About me

Hi, my name is Patti, and I’m a self taught contemporary abstract artist based in Perth, Western Australia.

Although I hold a degree in Psychology and have achieved a few other milestones, I never felt that I was truly following my calling. Growing up, I was encouraged to be “realistic” with my goals and choose a stable, practical career, which caused me to steer away from the creative path and lose confidence in myself.

From a young age, I’ve always been creative and found joy in expressing myself through art. It’s also a therapeutic outlet for me. My life can be hectic, and my mind often races. Art helps me find calm, allowing me to pause and immerse myself in my creations until the outside world fades away.

It can feel scary putting my artwork out there to be judged on my talent, but I remind myself that I won’t please everyone—and that’s okay.

I’ve always been drawn to nature. Lately, I’ve been enjoying painting Australian natives. There is so much natural beauty in this country and I feel so blessed to call this place home. Being immersed and staying connected with nature, I feel more grounded. A sense of calm washes over me. I hope to capture that same sense of tranquility in my artwork. All of my pieces are created using acrylic paint on canvas. I also like to create texture with a palette knife.

Ultimately, I aim to create a modern, expressive representation of tranquility, beauty, and nature—visual therapy to ease the mind. At the moment, I'm open to a  small number of commissions, but I want to keep my schedule flexible so I can continue growing and evolving as an artist.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I love creating it, and thank you for taking the time to read my story.

With love,

Patti
